Mr Yildirim Askar from Antakya in southern Turkey, has been in the food & beverages market for a number of years now. When he first came over to the UK from Turkey, he found it very difficult to find flavoursome coffee, so he set about establishing a business that satisfied that need. In 2005 he launched a business that would rid West Yorkshire of poor quality coffees for good!
While studying, Mr Askar worked as a waiter and restaurant manager in Leeds and quickly discovered that the quality of coffee they were buying for the restaurant was very poor. When he graduated from Leeds University in 2004, Mr Askar decided to set up in business supplying local restaurants with great tasting coffees from around the world. Where better to launch the business, aptly named “YILAS Dream Coffee Land” than the Leeds University’s Business Incubator.
Mr Askar’s dream quickly turned to reality and soon his business became well known for bringing a world of taste and great coffee flavours into the UK from Brazil, Kenya and Uganda.
His passion for the industry did not stop there. He has not only taught his skills to other entrepreneurs, he has also helped other businesses get off the ground here in the UK.
